Savers Thrift Stores Adding Jobs at El Paso Call Center

The call center market stands out from other business environments for a whole host of reasons. Among the reasons this is so is because a call center can exist for a variety of reasons. Some call centers are in place only to help a company’s bottom line; others are actually out there in order to help government entities stop crime and help the general public. Savers is one company that has managed to take a little from Column A and a little from Column B. The family of thrift stores has opened a new call center that is expected to employ as many as 450 people in El Paso, Texas.


The call center will make calls for not-for-profit organizations around the country. Those calls are generally made to either solicit donations or set up pickups from those who already want to donate their clothes and other items. The call center already has about 130 people in its employ and is looking to add around 300 more over the next few months.

These sorts of jobs aren’t the top of the line, but they do offer competitive wages, with the parent company saying jobs will start at around $8.75. The new jobs couldn’t come at a better time.  Two call centers in the area, operated by State Farm and Xerox, were both closed down last year. When those centers closed down, more than 800 jobs were lost.

El Paso has long been known as an area that is friendly to call centers, but the city has taken a step back in that department over the last few years. City leaders don’t believe that contact centers offer high wage jobs that bring other businesses into the city. Because of that belief the city has stopped actively recruiting call center businesses. That has led to a number of companies moving onto greener pastures. The arrival of the new jobs from Savers’ call center will be welcome.
